Gaza Ceasefire Strained by Fatal Strike and U.S. Warning; Hostage Remains Exchanged.
The U.S. State Department claimed "credible reports" indicating Hamas was planning an imminent attack against Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
Hamas rejected the U.S. claim, asserting the allegations were false and aligned with Israeli propaganda.
The Gaza Government Media Office accused Israel of 47 ceasefire violations, resulting in 38 Palestinian deaths and 143 injuries.
The deadliest recent violation was an Israeli tank shell strike that killed 11 members of the Abu Shaaban Palestinian family in Gaza City.
The Israeli military claimed the familyās vehicle posed an imminent threat after crossing an unmarked āyellow lineā.
Hamas and Israel have been trading accusations regarding violations of the week-old U.S.-mediated ceasefire deal.
Israel identified the body of deceased hostage Ronen Engel after Hamas handed over two coffins to the Red Cross.
Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu stated the Rafah crossing would remain closed until Hamas returns the remains of all deceased hostages.
Hamas accused Israel of obstructing efforts to recover bodies by denying the entry of heavy excavating machinery into Gaza.
Israel has returned the bodies of 135 Palestinians, some of which reportedly showed signs of torture, bound hands, and bullet wounds.
Hamas reported that discussions have begun regarding arrangements for the second phase of ceasefire negotiations, including potential disarmament.
A Middle East analyst suggested the U.S. State Department's warning was an attempt to incite internal civil conflict within the Gaza Strip.
